Empowering Black Children, Protecting Their Future.
Tackling the Schools to Prison Pipeline
Founded in 2011 by Cheryl Phoenix, the Black Child Agenda works to dismantle systemic barriers facing Black children in education and beyond.

Our Founder's Story
The Black Child Agenda was founded in 2011 by Cheryl Phoenix after witnessing the systematic and psychological abuse that Black children, including her own, faced within the UK education system.
The catalyst came when Cheryl observed 16 young Black males who were permanently excluded from school for what would be considered minor infractions if these children were of a different race. Most disturbing was that these children were never formally excluded but simply told they could no longer return to their school, leaving them vulnerable and easy targets for street culture. All this occurred within just a six-week period of a term.
“I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a place where parents can go for support and help. No child should be denied their right to education based on the color of their skin.”
Since then, the Black Child Agenda has evolved from strictly dealing with disproportionate exclusions of Black children from mainstream education to providing comprehensive support across multiple areas affecting Black families.
